Do the Chargers want to stay in San Diego?
The Chargers already had an opportunity to leave town before they amended their lease in 2004. However, the team worked diligently with the City to amend the lease so all parties involved could continue to explore a feasible solution to address Qualcomm Stadium’s inefficiencies.

In the past, the Chargers also agreed to eliminate the unpopular ticket guarantee, moved their training camp back to San Diego from Carson, and has proactively spent millions of dollars to forward a new stadium concept to the City before abandoning the idea in January.

The Chargers have been in San Diego since 1961 and Dean Spanos, President and CEO, has lived in San Diego for more than 20 years. The Spanos family has contributed millions of dollars to San Diego area organizations, with an emphasis on public education. Dean Spanos has said and repeated many times: “I love San Diego and don’t want to leave.”
