Economic Impact of NFL Teams

Baltimore Ravens
In 1999 Baltimore released a report entitled "Impact of the Baltimore Ravens Pro Football Team on the Maryland Economy." This report was based on the 1998 season. It showed that based on the various activities associated with the Ravens Pro Football Team and other events held at PSINet stadium, Maryland yielded an estimated total of $202 million in gross expenditures, $96 million in personal income, 2,772 Full-Time jobs, and $11.6 million in selected state receipts from taxes and miscellaneous revenues.

Buffalo Bills
In 1996 the teams’ gross economic impact, reflecting total economic activity resulting from the Bills presence in the marketplace was estimated to be $111.5 million. The Bills employed 1,664 people, and total direct expenditures by fans were estimated to be $31.5 million.

Detroit Lions (Have New Stadium in 2002)
The Detroit Lions found that approximately $127 million is spent in total direct spending associated with the stadium and the Lions. In addition, 1,320 annual full and part-time jobs are created in the City. Finally, $1.2 million is generated in City tax revenue per year.
